Origin
Only from Chios
Mastiha is the resin of the mastic tree. Chios mastiha holds protected designation of origin (PDO): the name can only be used for resin from the island of Chios, Greece.
- Summer
- Growers score the bark and the resin seeps out.
- Weeks later
- It dries into clear tears that are gathered and cleaned.
- Then
- The tears are ground and filled into plant-based capsules.
